Meet Dalynnja — The Designer Behind DLC Couture
DLC Couture (Dalynnja Le Clerq Couture) began with a childhood fascination for beautiful gowns, imagination, and the magic that clothing can create. Long before I ever dreamed of having my own atelier, I spent hours drawing dresses inspired by fairy tales and creating my own designs on paper.
As those sketches slowly transformed into patterns and fabrics, my love for fashion continued to grow. My grandmother, who was once a seamstress, sparked my curiosity for sewing and the beauty of handmade clothing. From there, I began exploring the craft myself—learning through experimentation, practice, and a constant desire to create garments that felt special.
After studying fashion at a vocational fashion school and continuing to develop my skills through years of hands-on experience, I discovered the world that truly inspired me: the elegance of past decades. The 1930s, 1940s and 1950s in particular. I became fascinated by the beauty of vintage fashion—the thoughtful silhouettes, refined details, and the feeling of dressing with character and intention.
This passion became the foundation of DLC Couture: a place where I can combine my love for design, history, and storytelling through clothing.
Each collection begins with inspiration, sketches, and a vision that slowly transforms into a finished garment.
Today, I design and create every DLC Couture piece myself in my atelier in the Netherlands. From developing collections and creating patterns to sourcing fabrics, sewing each garment, and finishing every detail, I personally guide the entire process from beginning to end. As a one-woman business, every piece carries the time, dedication, and personal attention that goes into creating it.
Alongside DLC Couture, I am also the founder of Sip & Sew—a creative atelier where I share my love for sewing, fashion, and vintage-inspired design with others. Through my classes, I hope to inspire people to experience the joy of making something with their own hands.
For me, clothing has always been about more than simply what we wear. It is about creativity, self-expression, and the feeling of finding a piece that truly feels like it belongs to you.
