Terms and Conditions – DLC Couture
By placing an order through www.dlccouture.com, you agree to the following terms regarding consultations, made-to-order garments, payment, production, and delivery.
DLC Couture operates in accordance with Dutch law and applicable European Union regulations, including consumer protection legislation and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
DLC Couture specializes in handcrafted, vintage-inspired garments produced exclusively on a made-to-order basis.
Article 1. Definitions
1.1 DLC Couture
DLC Couture is a Netherlands-based atelier and webshop operated by Dalynnja de Klerk, specializing in vintage-inspired garments and accessories.
1.2 Customer
Any natural or legal person placing an order through the website or commissioning a garment from DLC Couture.
1.3 Collection Garments
Garments shown as part of DLC Couture’s available collections on the website. These garments are produced only after an order is placed but follow the original design specifications as displayed.
1.4 Made-to-Order / Custom Orders
Garments created specifically for the customer according to individual design requests, measurements, or modifications beyond the original collection design.
1.5 Consultation
An initial design consultation during which design ideas, measurements, fabrics, and project scope are discussed.
Article 2. Applicability
2.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to all offers, consultations, orders, and agreements made with DLC Couture.
2.2 By placing an order, the customer agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
2.3 Any deviation from these terms must be agreed upon in writing.
2.4 If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions remain fully valid.
Article 3. Nature of the Products
3.1 All garments sold by DLC Couture are produced only after an order has been placed.
3.2 Collection garments follow the design specifications presented on the website.
3.3 Custom or Made-to-Order garments are designed and produced specifically for the customer.
3.4 Due to the handcrafted nature of the garments, minor variations in fabrics, trims, or finishing details may occur.
Article 4. Prices
4.1 Prices displayed on www.dlccouture.com for garments from the available collections are fixed retail prices and include VAT (BTW) unless stated otherwise.
4.2 Although collection garments are produced after purchase, they are made according to the design specifications shown on the website.
4.3 Prices listed for Made-to-Order or Custom Orders are starting prices and may vary depending on factors such as:
- final design specifications
- fabric selections
- embellishments or trims
- construction complexity
- additional design work
4.4 A full quotation will be provided after the initial consultation for Made-to-Order or Custom Orders.
4.5 Starting prices for Made-to-Order or Custom Orders are shown excluding VAT (BTW). A formal quotation provided after the consultation will include VAT (BTW) where applicable.
4.6 Shipping costs are calculated separately and displayed during checkout.
4.7 International customers may be required to pay import duties, customs fees, or local taxes, which are the responsibility of the customer.
4.8 DLC Couture reserves the right to correct pricing errors caused by typographical mistakes or technical issues.
Article 5. Consultation and Design Work
5.1 Custom commissions begin with a design consultation.
5.2 A non-refundable consultation fee of €180 must be paid before the consultation takes place.
5.3 The consultation includes:
- discussion of design concepts and inspiration
- measurement assessment
- exploration of fabric possibilities
- design feasibility and construction planning
- an initial design sketch based on the discussed concept
5.4 Following the consultation, the customer will receive a quotation for the proposed garment or project.
5.5 If the customer decides to proceed with the order, a separate invoice will be issued for the production of the garment.
5.6 If the customer decides not to proceed with the order after the consultation, the consultation fee remains non-refundable.
5.7 Additional sketches or further preparatory work beyond the consultation may be billed separately at DLC Couture’s hourly rate. These may include, but are not limited to:
- additional design sketches or revisions
- design development beyond the initial concept
- sourcing fabrics or materials
- research or preparatory work
- pattern development or technical planning
5.8 If such work has already been carried out and the customer chooses not to proceed with the order, the customer will still be invoiced for the hours already spent.
Article 6. Payment
6.1 Payments are processed through Mollie in a secure payment environment.
Accepted payment methods include:
- iDeal
- PayPal
- Klarna (if available)
- Bancontact
- Sofort
- Giropay
- Visa / MasterCard / American Express
- Bank transfer
6.2 For bank transfers, payment must be received within 5 business days.
6.3 Production begins only after payment has been received, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6.4 DLC Couture reserves the right to verify payment details if necessary.
Article 7. Production Time
7.1 Because all garments are handcrafted, production times may vary.
7.2 Standard production time is approximately 3–6 weeks, unless otherwise agreed.
7.3 More complex garments such as wedding dresses or heavily embellished pieces may require additional production time.
7.4 Customers will be notified if significant delays occur.
Article 8. Delivery
8.1 Orders are shipped via PostNL with Track & Trace.
8.2 DLC Couture cannot be held responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers or customs authorities.
8.3 Risk of loss or damage transfers to the customer once the parcel has been delivered to the shipping address provided.
Article 9. Retention of Title
All products remain the property of DLC Couture until full payment has been received.
Ownership transfers to the customer upon delivery.
Article 10. Returns and Right of Withdrawal
10.1 All garments sold by DLC Couture are produced specifically after an order is placed.
10.2 Under Article 6:230p of the Dutch Civil Code, the legal right of withdrawal does not apply to goods that are made according to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalized.
10.3 Because each garment is individually produced after ordering, returns and refunds are not accepted.

DLC Couture will make reasonable efforts to find an appropriate solution.
Article 11. Order Cancellation
11.1 Orders may be cancelled within 48 hours after placement, provided that design work or production has not yet begun.
11.2 If design work, material sourcing, or pattern preparation has already started, the customer will be invoiced for the work completed up to that point.
Article 12. Complaints
12.1 Complaints regarding defects, deviations from the agreed design, or fit must be reported within 14 days of receiving the garment or the first fitting, whichever occurs first.
12.2 Any defects discovered later must be reported within 2 months of discovery.
12.3 Complaints regarding damage caused by improper washing, storage, handling, or normal wear will not be considered valid.
12.4 Complaints will be assessed in relation to the care instructions provided with the garment.
Article 13. Communication
DLC Couture cannot be held liable for delays or errors resulting from failures in internet connections, email services, or other communication systems beyond its control.
Article 14. Force Majeure
DLC Couture cannot be held liable for failure to fulfill obligations due to force majeure, including but not limited to:
- natural disasters
- pandemics
- war or civil unrest
- supply chain disruptions
- illness or unforeseen personal circumstances
In such situations, orders may be delayed, suspended, or cancelled.
Article 15. Intellectual Property
All designs, sketches, patterns, and creative concepts produced by DLC Couture remain the intellectual property of DLC Couture.
They may not be copied, reproduced, or used commercially without written permission.
Article 16. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
16.1 These Terms and Conditions and all agreements with DLC Couture are governed by Dutch law.
16.2 Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
Article 17. Fittings and Alterations
17.1 Custom garments are created according to the customer’s measurements and design specifications. Minor adjustments during fittings are included in the agreed project scope.
17.2 Additional alterations or changes requested after production has started, or outside the agreed number of fittings, will be invoiced separately at DLC Couture’s hourly rate.
17.3 Fit-related complaints must be reported during the first fitting or within 14 days of receipt of the garment, whichever occurs first. Complaints reported after this period will not be honored.
Article 18. Fabric Availability
18.1 All fabrics, trims, and embellishments used by DLC Couture are subject to availability at the time of order.
18.2 DLC Couture will make reasonable efforts to source the requested materials, but cannot guarantee exact matches to swatches or previous projects.
18.3 If the original materials are unavailable, DLC Couture will propose suitable alternatives. Customers must approve alternatives in writing before production proceeds.
Article 19. Portfolio and Photography
19.1 DLC Couture reserves the right to photograph garments for promotional purposes, including website, social media, lookbooks, and portfolio use.
19.2 Customers may request that photographs exclude identifiable personal features, but the final design and garment may still appear in promotional material.
19.3 Any commercial use of DLC Couture designs by the customer without prior written consent is strictly prohibited.
